November. The heating is on, and someone in the room still feels cold.
We don’t feel warmth only from the air. The body radiates heat to walls and windows. With the air at 22 °C and the wall at 16 °C, it feels like about 19 °C. What counts for comfort is the operative temperature: θo ≈ (θa + θr) / 2 (EN ISO 7730).
“He had cold hands and a warm nose.”

This is the opening page of the KEINDL BAU calendar “Building Physics in 12 Months”. From January, one lesson appears here on the first of every month. The whole calendar (in Croatian): Fizika zgrade u 12 mjeseci – kalendar 2027.
In short: thermal comfort, operative temperature, mean radiant temperature, cold walls and windows, EN ISO 7730.
