Vanja Keindl_graduate civil engineer: Dubai

Dubai from the aeroplane through the lens of Vanja Keindl_graduate civil engineer
As a civil engineer, I always look for the building site
While most travellers look at finished buildings, as a civil engineer my eyes stop on the building sites. In the rhythm of the workers, the way materials are laid out and how the space is organised, I see what always fascinates me: an idea turning into reality.

Burj Khalifa from a civil engineer’s perspective – a structure that changed the standards
Today the Burj Khalifa dominates the Dubai skyline as a symbol of modern engineering.
But as a civil engineer, I know from my own experience that behind that perfect silhouette there are thousands of hours of work, planning and human strength.

In this post I am sharing a photo from its building site – a scene that reminds me, as an engineer, that every imposing structure starts with the same basic steps: work on site and the people who build it.
But I will tell you more about them in the next posts.
