Vanja Keindl: An Engineer’s Passion for Tall Buildings – Dubai

Apart from the connection with people on site, which I wrote about in my previous post, what always fascinates me on my travels is tall buildings. Those who know me know I cannot resist a skyscraper. Dubai is full of tall buildings, and a lot of them are empty. When you walk the streets, Dubai often looks like a ghost town. Its skyline, despite that, is magnificent.

The universal language of the building site

For me, every trip is also a small school – not only of culture and food, but of human persistence. A building site speaks a universal language, whatever the continent.

On a site you can see the world growing, and dreams turning into reality.

Dubai’s high horizons

Dubai’s skyscrapers take your breath away with their height and design. Every building combines innovative engineering with aesthetic expression, and many projects are always under construction, which gives the city a dynamic, “living” character.

Dubai – a permanent building site

The whole city is constantly changing. New skyscrapers, luxury complexes and infrastructure projects are being built at the same time in many locations, which makes Dubai a unique blend of architecture and mega-engineering. For engineers and architects, it is a paradise for observing, learning and finding inspiration.
